Iris Power uses the HydroTracII to collect voltage pulse data through 80pF Iris Power Epoxy Mica Capacitors and analyzes the data using PDView diagnostic software to provide information need to avoid catastrophic failures, extending the life your asset and reducing the risk of unplanned outages.

Acquisition

  • Ideally used with permanently installed Iris Power 80pF Epoxy Mica Capacitors (EMC)
  • Continuous monitoring ensures a consistent testing interval, thereby improving the quality of the trends.
  • The alarm features permit maintenance personnel to focus  on machines that exhibit unusual or high levels of partial discharge activity
  • Remote inputs with 8 analog points proportional to operating conditions such as equipment temperature, voltage, current or power. These conditions are recorded for trending and analysis.

Data Analysis

  • Sophisticated monitoring and analysis system prevents false indications by digitally separating partial discharges from electrical noise, on a pulse-by-pulse basis.
  • Proven filtering and pattern recognition enhances noise separation, allowing for a reliable and objective detection of stator winding problems such as  poor impregnation, overheated windings, coil movement in the slot, ineffective or deteriorating grading / semi-conductive material problems, and  contamination.
  • In response to a partial discharge alert, users can review the pulse height analysis plots, and the 24-window phase resolved partial discharge plots using basic interpretation to confirm the cause of the alert

Communication

  • The HydroTracII can operate “stand alone” system with only periodic downloading of archived partial discharge data or it can be networked into the plant control system for remote data acquisition and analysis through USB, Ethernet or Modbus.
  • An alert output using a dedicated relay can activate a remote indicator of high partial discharge alert conditions.  The alert output may also be connected to a plant monitoring system.

Options

Data Acquisition

  • Local ambient humidity and temperature sensor.
  • Configuration suitable to work with existing low frequency capacitive couplers (1nF – 2 nF)

Communication

  • Remote outputs with 6 analog outputs proportional to the level of PD activity (+Qm and –Qm). This is applicable in situations where the user is interested in having the realtime PD activity acquired by their DCS or control system.
