PDTracII – Partial Discharge Monitoring (Motors & Switchgear)

Continuous Online Partial Discharge Monitoring

Product Overview

The PDTracII instrument is the leading on-line continuous partial discharge monitor used on motors, small generators, isolated phase bus and switchgear globally.

Works with the Following Assets
Assists with the Following Type of Monitoring

Iris Power uses the PDTracII to collect voltage pulse data through a single 80pF Iris Power Epoxy Mica Capacitor per phase and analyzes the data using PDView diagnostic software to provide information need to avoid catastrophic failures, extending the life your asset and reducing the risk of unplanned outages.

All data analysis results automatically output from PDView provide information need to understand the severity and location of:

The results are the most repeatable and reliable information available which can also be referenced against the Iris Power severity tables which consist of a statistical review of over 550,000 machine tests globally to provide a relative health index against similar machines.

Product Details

  • Ideally used with permanently installed Iris Power 80pF Epoxy Mica Capacitors (EMC)
  • Remote inputs with 8 analog points proportional to operating conditions such as equipment temperature, voltage, current or power. These conditions are recorded for trending and analysis.

Data Analysis

  • The PDTracII uses superior automatic noise separation technology based on filtering and pulse shape analysis to reliably distinguishing partial discharges from electrical interference (noise) to prevent false alarms.
  • In response to a PD alert, users can review the pulse height analysis plots, and the 24-window phase resolved PD plots using basic interpretation to confirm the cause of the alert

  • The PDTracII can operate “stand alone” system with only periodic downloading of archived partial discharge data or it can be networked into the plant control system for remote data acquisition and analysis through USB, Ethernet or Modbus.
  • An alert output using a dedicated relay can activate a remote indicator of high partial discharge alert conditions.  The alert output may also be connected to a plant monitoring system.

Data Acquisition

  • Local ambient humidity and temperature sensor.
  • Configuration suitable to work with existing low frequency capacitive couplers (1nF – 2 nF)

  • C-UL-US Hazardous location, with stainless steel IP66 enclosure. For use in North American markets. PDTracII has markings Class 1, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D based on ISA 12.12.01- 2010 and CSA C22.2 NO. 213.
  • ATEX/IECEx Hazardous location, with stainless steel IP66 enclosure.  PDTracII with markings II 3 G Ex nA nC IIC T5 Gc in compliance with EN 60079-0:2009, EN 60079-15:2010, IEC 60079-0:2010 Edition 5 and IEC 60079-15:2010 Edition 4.
  • INMETRO Hazardous location, with stainless steel IP66 enclosure for use in Brazilian markets. PDTracII with markings BR-Ex nA nC IIC T5 according to Portaria 179:2010
  • Other country certifications may be available.

  • Remote outputs with 6 analog outputs proportional to the level of PD activity (+Qm and –Qm). This is applicable in situations where the user is interested in having the realtime PD activity acquired by their DCS or control system.
